First try at applique

So here goes my first post. Basically, I wanted to start this blog to record my hobbies. Over the years, I've made oodles of things but have given most of it away as gifts to friends and family. Majority of the items, I don't even have a pic of. So I figured by at least blogging about stuff, I'd have some sort of record of things to help me remember what I've done and to keep me motivated.
What I'm working on now, is my first applique project. I've always wanted to try it. And this I plan on keeping, to hang in my kitchen. It's called A Tisket, A Tasket and it's a BOM by Anne of Bunny Tales; totally fun to see everyone's rendition of it over at Flickr. I'm using two charm packs by Moda mostly which are Collections For A Cause by Howard Marcus called Heritage and Portobello Market by 3 Sisters. I'm experimenting with the needle turn method (which I love the look of but don't find fun to do b/c of the invisible thread I'm using that kinks all up!) and doing machine blanket stitch for the smaller parts. May even try hand blanket stitch on the next one.
So here's my January and February's blocks done:
