46 now!

I think I'm caught up now on my 9-patches....46 done so far. Woohoo! That's all I have cut up so far and that's all my scraps from the Mod Sampler quilt. So guess I'll have to use up some more of my charms and hopefully I have some other FQ's that I can use too.
more 9-patches
The next Bunny Hill design is out for the June BOM, so think I'll work on that next. Just hope it turns out better than last months'!

getting there now!

I'm finally making progress on the nine-patch quilt along that CrazyMomQuilts is doing. Yeah! I'm still behind but at least I've made some patches and I'm liking them. And it feels good to be using up lots of scraps and fabrics that I hadn't known what to do with till now. The scrap bits are what's left over from my Mod Sampler which are Collections For A Cause by Howard Marcus called Heritage and some charms from Portobello Market by 3 Sisters. I'm pairing these prints with 6 or 7 solids from FQ's that I had. Not sure yet on the sashing. But I think it should look nice in my family room. I've got approx. 5o blocks cut out so far. I put them on cards and can just take them to the machine easily like this and start chain piecing. It goes pretty quickly this way. Now if I can just get the time to do it as my DD is a very busy little one year old!

Here's what I have so far sewn:
first batch of 9 patches

This is the 'deep red' group which I'm thinking as the accent color throughout the quilt. The rest of the blocks will be pretty tame, mostly tans and browns. Not sure yet on the bright blue. It's from the Portobello Market charms and may just stick out too much, but plan on doing a few more of the same color and seeing how I like it. The two-toned red print (like in the top left block), will likely be the backing fabric.
Now just need to drag myself away from these as they are just too fun to do and get going on my son's star quilt...
Happy sewing every one!
